Cluj Business Campus is one of the largest mixed office and living developments in Cluj-Napoca and its the only one of its size that is locally owned. CBC was imagined and developed to welcome companies of any size to an empowering habitat for growth and innovation.

At Techsylvania we’ve decided to find out more about Cluj Business Campus and why this is the perfect place for companies on the lookout for great office space. To get all the right answers we’ve turned to Vlad Buzoianu, CEO at Cluj Business Campus.

Vlad Buzoianu, CEO at Cluj Business Campus

Let’s introduce CBC to all the people and companies on the lookout for great office space?

It is a mixed real estate project located in between the historical city center and the second biggest residential neighborhood of Cluj. The campus is composed of 23 000 square meters class A offices, 180 apartments and diverse business and after business services such as: canteen, gym, interior park, kindergarten, private school, panoramic rooftops, coffee shops, residential area, sports pitch, and many cool events. Today, we host 20+ companies, ranging from early-stage startups to large
multinationals.

Now the area is developing rapidly: from new office developments to malls and neighborhood centers like Feroviarlor Park. My bet is, if you draw a circle around Nicolae Balcescu (where I attended high school) you’ll see the future business area of Cluj. CBC is a great place to rent an office if you are looking for a dynamic community with an authentic vibe.

So, with so many projects coming into the market, what makes CBC different?

Although CBC is one of the largest mixed office and living developments in Cluj, it is the only one of our size that is locally owned. That means we’re invested in our community, not just a real estate operation. From the beginning, our purpose was to build a modern lifestyle community within Cluj. 6 years, 30 000 built square meters and 2500 residents later, we’re still focused on that vision. Hence, community focus makes us different. It means we constantly go above and beyond renting or selling premises: we create a place where our residents can have a feel good and time-saving approach to working, learning and living. That is our value proposition. And we do so by offering convenience, a healthy/active lifestyle and continuous growth.
We see convenience as the time one saves by having almost everything he or she needs on campus.

Those minutes spent in traffic on the way to the gym, dropping the kids to school or meeting folks for a delicious lunch are saved at CBC and spent better. The CBC Bistro offers delicious food at affordable prices that make breakfast and lunch quick and our catering service makes you think twice before home cooking. The Royal School and Kindergarten on-site help keep our little ones close and well looked after. CBC Living is the place to live closer to work and to the center, but afar its pressure.

The car and bike parking on site and the public transport stops surrounding our campus make it easily accessible and convenience goes on with every small thing that makes the daily schedule run smoother. Next, but equally important is the healthy and active lifestyle we create a context for. We offer an on-site gym — CBC Fitness Corner and activities and clubs like rooftop yoga, cycling, fit camps, sports tournaments, CBC Rooftop Parties, CBC Mindfulness, CBC Hiking Club, CBC Kitesurfing Club, CBC Charity, and more. Soon we’ll also have a regulation-sized mini-football field.

Last but not least, life is about learning at every age and that is why we host a
kindergarten, an international school, an IT school for professionals, a startup
incubator; investment fund, frequent workshops, hackathons, and other learning and networking opportunities.

What benefits does CBC offer for companies looking to relocate and what does the future hold for CBC?

We consider the modern offices and diverse business and after business facilities, we offer as the foundation of a good commercial real estate project. You can see all the benefits we provide to our partner companies here.

Our tenants enjoy all the benefits CBC has to offer and you can read here what they appreciate more.

They value the direct communication with the owner. On a daily basis, if needed. This means that despite the size of our operation, the owner and the CEO are one elevator button away, always ready to speak to our partners about tenant present and future needs. Here they feel more like a partner than a tenant when we are discussing growth plans. They value dealing with a family business because it implies a higher degree of flexibility and quick decision making on our side and we know flexibility means a lot in the global
dynamic business world.

Last but not least they value the best cost/benefit value on the market.

Speaking on plans for the future, our new building will be completed in Q1 2020, bringing us to the final 23,000 square meters of class A offices and 180 apartments. Although we already have some great companies signed up, we have 3500 square meters left for companies eager to join our vibrant community. As many of the large commercial real estate projects look to sell, we’re committed to continual investment and growth of our project and community here in the heart of Cluj.

We’re also excited about our sister project, Techville, an upcoming business incubator located just outside the hustle and bustle of the city, in the middle of nature, perfect for daily working and retreats, that we will deliver in the coming 2 years. Techville will feature individual offices, coworking spaces, events rooms hosting up to 1000, a restaurant, a large lake featuring the first wakeboarding park in Transylvania, barbecue and picnic areas, and more. Techville’s philosophy is: Work Better.

If you are looking for a referenced real estate partner for your operation in Cluj, do check us out. It will be my pleasure to show you around CBC so you can meet us and make your own impression of the place. It’s all one ‘let’s have coffee button away’.

Thank you Techsylvania for introducing us to your amazing entrepreneurial community.

In today’s fast-paced world and a demanding online environment, finding the right tools is vital for the ones who work with digital.

Bannersnack is one of these tools — if you have an eye for design but not the skills for it, this online banner maker gives you the opportunity to put your vision to work. Bannersnack is an online tool that is always one step ahead, developing ready-to-use templates for social media platforms or for most major ad networks and making the visuals easy to integrate in any kind of website.

As Neil Patel said about them, “Bannersnack understands what a modern-day marketer needs. They have one of the most powerful editors in the banner space.”

Bannersnack was one of the partners who made Techsylvania 2019 possible, being well-invested in the future of technology and in the education around it. They stirred our curiosity and wanted to find out more about the story behind this product, which went global due to its features. Thus, we asked Gabriel Ciordas, the CEO of Bannersnack, a few questions:

How do you balance your role as a CEO and an entrepreneur?

The key to balancing my role as a CEO and an entrepreneur lies in the fact that I’m always connected to the industry, the product, the clients, and most importantly, the employees. This helps me get a better grip on how the market is evolving and what we can do as a company to move forward.

In my opinion, it’s hard to achieve the perfect balance as an entrepreneur but I’m striving every day to determine where people need me the most so I never stop bringing value and lift others along with me.

How did you lead Bannersnack’s expansion towards the global market?

Two essential aspects led to Bannersnack’s expansion on the global market: the fact that we were able to build a product that solves people’s main problems when it comes to online designing (creating high-quality visuals fast and easy) and also thanks to the team that was behind building the product with all of its incredible features.

I want to stress the fact that Bannersnack would not be where it is today without its team which, in just a few words, I can describe as extremely dedicated, solid, visionary, and hard-working.

What’s the key to a happy team? What’s Bannersnack’s company culture? How did/ do you contribute to it?

I strongly believe that the key to a happy team is making sure the employees are part of an inclusive culture, where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and receive the support they need.

We also take an interest in our employees and make sure that people receive the recognition they deserve and are happy doing their work. Once (or several times) per month, we try and get together and do some sort of fun activity so we strengthen the bond between employees.
